Does anyone wanna explain to me how torrents work?
I don’t get them at all, and I hear they’re a lot faster and easier than just downloading from links and stuff. :3
Basically, when you hit on a direct download link your web browser connects directly to the downloading servers and copy the files online.
As for torrents, it’s a little different:
- You don’t click on a link, you just download a small tiny file “.torrent” that enables you to access the files you wanna download.
- You also have to use a special application and not your web browser [unless you’re using Opera browser!]
- When you download from a torrent you’re not downloading directly from online servers, you’re leeching the files from online peers. So you NEED other people to be online when you’re sharing any files with them.
- Also i have to warn you that there is some copyrights issues a many of the torrents sites offer illegal materials, so be careful.
µTorrent - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client
BitTorrent (protocol)
isoHunt - the BitTorrent and P2P search engine
